1. What new skills did you learn as part of this unit?
For Unit 3’s Artist Bootcamp, we learned five very fun techniques to create art. These techniques were Perspective & Value Drawing, Acrylic and Water Color, Clay, and Printmaking. For the first week, we were given a chance to learn more about Perspective Drawing. The second week focused on Value Drawing and the importance of effectively using pencils to shade and create details without color. The third week saw us utilizing Acrylic and Water Color and we were taught about the different uses of brushes and other materials to create texture in paint. The fourth week taught us how to utilize Clay and the importance of remembering that sometimes simple is better. For the fifth and final week, Printmaking taught us how to use different textures on templates to make patterns.
2. What project from Unit 3 did you find to be the most successful? Why?
For Unit 3, the two successful pieces that I did were my Abstergo Industries clay tablet and Forgotten City painting. These pieces were probably the most successful because they allowed me to freely craft and make variations within every step. With every layer that I painted or carved out, the pieces slowly came to life and showed amazing results. Using these two forms of media were by far the most fun as well.
3. What media are you interested in using again and why?
Clay and Paint. If I knew what I know now about these two different forms of media, I would’ve absolutely rocked out and had an even bigger blast with the projects. I appreciated these projects because they allowed a tremendous amount of freedom of thought.
